The first Socrates Ceremony in 2012 will take place in traditional style at the Institute of Directors, one of the main centres of social and business life in London.

The aim of the important event is to summarise achievements for 2011 and present awards to the best managers and companies from Europe, Asia and Africa.

Notwithstanding modern day challenges, EBA recognizes the high professionalism of company executives and their teams, who have put considerable effort into the development of their countries’ economies.

Within the framework of the ceremony, high achievers in education, science, culture and charity will be recognized. According to the Socrates Committee, these individuals have made a valuable contribution to the development of democratic values.

The Socrates Committee, established in Oxford – the centre of world education and culture, is an international independent society that over the past decade has recognized the best of the best. Amongst its members are leaders in business, science and culture. As such, the motto of Socrates is ‘Building a world of successful people!’

To date, the Socrates Committee has presented awards to: Rosneft Oil Company, Interribflot (Russian Federation); KRKA d.d. (Slovenia); SERY* Creative Communications GmbH (Austria), Makpetrol AD (Slovenia), joint-stock company Aluminium of Kazakhstan (Republic of Kazakhstan); public corporation Belshina (Republic of Belarus); Banca de Economii S.A. (Republic of Moldova); Azer-Ilme Company Ltd. (Republic of Azerbaijan) and others.

EBA prizes have also been awarded to well-known statesmen, public and religious figures and businessmen including:
Bryan Keen (ex Lord Mayor of Oxford), Viktor Chernomyrdin (ex Prime Minister of Russia), Abdullah Gül (Minister for Foreign Affairs of Turkey), Gennadiy Seleznyov (Speaker of State Duma of Russia); Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassadors in Great Britain – Akin Alptuna (Turkey), Indulis Berzins (Latvia), Ian Winkler (Czech Republic); Member of European Parliament Barbara Kudrycka (Poland).
