Innovation in modern city management is the key topic of this year’s Summit in Oxford.

One of the most respected international events in the south-east of the United Kingdom the Oxford Summit offers an exclusive interactive platform for business contacts, presentations, exchange of ideas and technologies.

The venue provides a great backdrop with the opening ceremony and the plenary session taking place at the Sheldonian Theatre in the historical city of Oxford. The discussion focuses on new approaches to solving the problems of megacities during processes of urbanization and ecological cataclysms. Keynote speakers will introduce the newest developments in governmental management based on the experience of the implementation of the European Union programme “Innovational cities of new generation” in Helsinki, Dublin and Barcelona.

Outreach working meetings comprising professional groups with European experts, to be held at the International Research Centre “Syngenta” and Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals NHS Trust, will impart a practical aspect to the Summit. “Rector Rout” is certain to generate considerable interest: representatives from more than 30 universities will discuss issues relating to the training of city managers under special programmes and following specific requests from municipal authorities.

Participation in open presentations of investment projects and programmes of international city development will facilitate the expansion of economic cooperation.

The not-to-miss event of the Summit is “The Socrates Award Ceremony” – a solemn presentation of prestigious European awards. Chairmen of Oxford Summit of Leaders − Mr John Netting and Mr Will Goodhair will present the International Socrates Awards of 2011 to the best personalities nominated from political, economic and scientific establishments across the countries of Eastern Europe, Asia and Africa in the field of governmental management, economy, science and culture.

“The Oxford Summit of 2011 is of special interest for managers of different categories”, – said one of its founders, EBA director general, John Netting. “And not only in the aspect of sharing European experience. It is important for us to develop pragmatic dialogue between the scientific elite in the field of city governing and representatives of present authorities − politicians, mayors and city managers. I’m convinced that our Summit will become the unique informational and consulting platform for expanding of partnership ties on the municipality level between different countries”
